Carport

Keep the weather off Rocky

Carport

You may recall that we got through last winter just fine, but could easily do with less snow piled up on the cars first thing in the morning. Also a little less driveway to have to snow blow would also be welcome.
Freddy decided that a carport would be the answer.

We could not find anything that would fit the driveway, so got the smallest one that would fit the length we needed - basically as long as the Honda with a little room for me to drive Bluey around it getting in and out of the garage. Thus we ended up with a 20 foot by 20 foot elcheapo carport off Amazon.

We had a little helper for most of the project which made it a lot of fun

Its been sitting in boxes in the garage for about two months and a bit until one day, Cole, just out of the blue, decided that it was time to put it up.
Took him about 6 hours. The guy is a machine.
Hardly any photos as he and Freddy did a lot of the work while I was at work - there are days when he gets home early to mid afternoon.

Mostly a case of build the roof and then stand the thing up.

The legs on the driveway got anchor bolts drilled into the concrete and the legs in the dirt got ground anchors. Sort of like really big cork screws.

Still got one last row of roof tin to go on, it wraps around the edge a little and gives it quite a bit more strength.
I'm also going to fill in the gap between its end and the garage roof and will be screwing that tin to the garage roof and that will also give it some stability.

Kinda hard to see, but it was a pretty good frost and Rocky does not have anything on him at all, so yeah, its going to do the job just nice.

Sure its a bit thin in places, but other than a bit of snow and spring rain, I don't expect it to get beat on all that much. Should see us out.
