My beloved basement
18 years in a basement

One of the main reasons I left my job at the hospital 17 years, 1 month, and 5 days ago was because I honestly thought the hospital had run out of buildings to demolish and rebuild with Opto controlling them.
Since I thought I was running out of fresh and interesting work, I may as well move to USA and work for the company directly. (Honestly, there was not much more to it than that).
HAH!
How wrong was I!

My mate Dan and sister both have sent me photos of them jack-hammering down to my beloved basement and beyond.
The cold comfort is that they also have wiped out the old IT department where Gary would hang out a few days a week as well... so all three blog readers are impacted.

I knew there was talk of a helipad coming just as I was leaving - but who knows how long it would take to actually get built (it was a few years). I always wanted to put Opto on it somewhere.
The old pad went on the carpark roof, but it looks like its been removed already and they are landing on the oval like the old days.
I guess the new one will not have much Opto on it.
Safe to say, I doubt the new building will have much Opto actually automating it.
Ray, Frank, and I, the Opto22 champions, are long gone.
It seems a new integrator from Melbourne is picking up the project. It's going to be hard for me to keep up with how it's going, but I hope there is a bit of Opto going in and joining up with the system I left in place.... Just so much of my life in that hospital.
