Roof Work Pt 3
Got a leaky roof?
I gave the vent pipes a mention in roof work pt 2 but did not actually fix them at the time.
We are finally moving from summer into autumn, and the rain is really ramping up, so the gaps around the vents started to bother me a lot more.

There just is no way this mess is waterproof. None whatsoever.
Silicon on dirt pretty much. Just zero adhesion, not to mention how it all adds up to zero help in reducing the ingress of water.
Anyway, 4-inch grinder with a wire flapper wheel to get the crap off to see what lies below.

Fun fact. As you grind off the silicon, the 'dust' gets all over the roof and makes it really quite slippery.

Since it's all a mess of angles, bumps, and holes, I figured just cover all of it.
Hit reset and try a different (for this house) method of making it water-tight.

I plan to pop the manhole cover and poke around with the thermal camera when its really raining one day and see if I can pick up any cold spots where water might be getting in, but honestly doubt it.
