Still more storage
Tux looks happy

Making painfully slow progress in the shop.
The new mezzanine is full - well, as full as I can make it and with some stuff stored in the aisleway - and still I needed a LOT more storage space.
Dan said it won't be long, and I will be extending the mezzanine all the way along the full length of the shop. He'd be right if I had the time and money to build it. But I am also not sure I want to be going up and down a 'ladder' that much. The mezzanine is cold storage; the more I have up there, the warmer it would become, and so I suspect I'd quickly find myself having to go up and down a bunch of times each day.

So, I added more storage space along the back wall... The only way to go there was up...

Yes, it's ugly.
Yes, it's a hack.
Yes, it works great.

Yes, the power leads are in the way.
No, I've not moved them yet, as I don't have anywhere to move them to.

I think that is about as high as I want/can go on this wall.
The red step ladder is about perfect for getting access to the top tubs and getting power leads, so I think the height is about right for daily storage.

I stuck a camera in the top corner of the shop to try and get some gifs of the re-org, but I'm having trouble with the stitching software, so I only have a few useful ones.
This is one of them.
I struggle to see progress a lot of the time, so having these gifs helps me see that things are actually getting better.

Just looking at the photos.....
Before...

During....

After....

It all looks about the same to me — just a cluttered mess.
I don't mind a bit of useful clutter, but when you can't move in it, that's where I draw the line.

Speaking of clutter and not being able to move.... I was thinking of using all three computer desks in a U shape...

But when walking in the door of the shop, it felt too much like a cattle run, so I nixed the third desk - it's in the garage for now.
Besides, having a desk just inside the door was going to be tooooo tempting to put (dump) everything on that desk and not have it move deeper into the shop where it belongs.

Moving the subwoofer is pretty high on the to-do list.
It will go under the desk on the left, near the wall, so it's tucked out of the way.
And yes, it is really really nice to have these speakers and their matching sub back up and running in the shop. I have a few more sets of speakers to install, and the laser light shows to get hung as well....
The standing desk is the first time I've used one. So far, I'm a big fan of this sort of workshop use. It's nice to just walk up to the computer and use it without bending over etc.

Been a while since we've seen the outside of the shop, so here is a reminder of what it looks like.
I cranked the HDR waaaaaaay too much, and it looks pretty crappy, but sort of fits my mental state regarding the space.
