Trance #38 - The Veldt
The world that the children made
I really like a lot of Deadmou5's mixes, but he's such an 'out there' DJ that it can be hard to remove the personality from the music at times. I've stopped following him on socials and stuff, and as time fades my memories of the personality (this is a track from 13 years ago), I've enjoyed his music more and more.
The reason I have stuck with the music (and disliked him) is because of his very, very high audio standards. If he would calm down the Im the only one that does it right stance and just stick to setting the gold standard for EDM music production, it might help... It sort of reminds me of one of my favorite sayings, When all is said and done, more is usually said than done. In Deadmau5's case, he actually does as much as he talks, hence me sticking around a bit over all the years.
I still clearly recall the night he heard this fan vocal mix... Warning, the following video has a TON of F-bombs, so be warned, but it's just amazing today, as back then to see someone that goes from a very clear negative, 'Im going to critique this' - ie, no one can add vocals to one of my tracks to my liking - to just being totally blown away with joy. I found his change really encouraging and almost profound.... Letting people / music speak without prejudging them.
If you want to read along while the main mix plays...
Scattered around the room
Look what they made, they made it for me
Happy technology
Outside, the lions roam
Feeding on remains
We'll never leave, look at us now
So in love with the way we areHere
The world that the children made
The world that the children madeEvery night, they rock us to sleep
Digital family
Is it real or is it a dream?
Can you believe in machines?
Outside, the beating sun
Can you hear the screams?
We'll never leave, look at us now
So in love with the way we areHere, the world that the children made
The world that the children made
Here, the world that the children made
Here, the world that the children madeHere
The world that the children made
Here
The world that the children made
Here
The world that the children made
