Winter in mid-March
Move to Idaho they said, it will be fun they said.
We got some real snow.
The forecast said 1-2 inches. I get that snowfall is tough to predict and more so than rain, so I don't have any issue that they were out by many inches.

I walked out in it more than a few times as I wanted to try and learn and record what I could while it was happening. I don't think I am ready for future years, but at least I saw with my own eyes my own gear getting snow built up on it.
Had to head to work, but Cole got a photo of a sort of snow bridge between the VHF (black pipe) antenna and the dish, so that was pretty interesting.
From what I could tell the message rate did not drop too much from the dish.

Same shot, but close up.
Just a bit mind-blowing how it piles up.
It was a very still day, so that probably added to the build up on the guy wires.

Took a few minutes to get Bluey ready to drive.
Glad Freddy ordered the covers she did. I ended up putting both on since we were not planning on driving Rocky, so his windshield cover is on the back window, as Bluey does not have a wiper (major safety blunder).

Even finding the charge port was interesting.
Thankfully, it was light, fluffy snow, so I just took a few breaths and blew enough of it clear that I could find the handle, etc.

The actual driving was pretty smooth. Bluey's all-wheel drive is sure-footed, and I don't feel the need to do much with the tires at this point. Probably just get the same again when these wear out. <shrug>

Later in the day, when I got home, it was just at a few inches.
While it did not actually stop during the day, it was just warm enough that not all of it built up.

Freddy's daffodils in the lower left of the photo sure know it was the last snow of the year and were already just about to flower.

Freddy put a black plastic plate in the freezer for about 15 min and then caught some flakes on it.
The Pixel phone did a pretty good job of taking some macro photos. Here are some of the better flakes we caught.

Overnight, with the temperature drop, it really started to pile up.
You can see the mound on the lower left here, where it added to the daily total.

Between 6 and 8 inches, just depending on how the breeze was blowing.

It was odd to look out the basement window and see snow level with the window.
I really need to get the egress cover re-enforced and on a hinge.

I want to put the small dish in this space here, so wanted to make sure I had some photos of what I need to build over it to protect it.

This was interesting. The whole shop roof acted like a single sheet of snow and ice and slowly migrated down and over the edge of the roof throughout the day.

When the sun hits the snow, it gets really really really bright!

This is the day after the sunny day.
The sun caused some of the snow to melt and drip down. Overnight the drips froze and turned into this.
More fun things for me to think about with the dish directly under all these.

Goofing off with the grandson a day or two later.
