I don’t want to turn into a news service…….. But, given how much of an event it was for us feeling this one, I am sort of keeping an eye on the map…….
There have now (as of Tuesday morning) been over 500 aftershocks in the area.
The poor people down in Mexico are not getting much rest. They are just getting quake after quake hit them. Nothing as big as the first one, but in the order of 3’s and 4’s which is what we had felt before this one (and they were exciting enough), so they are pretty big and more than enough to be very unsettling.
Like us on Sunday, you feel it and there is no way of knowing how big it is going to get or how long it is going to go for. Unlike a storm or rain, you cant see the source, you cant look at a radar map and know what direction or speed or intensity it is going to be. You just have to ride it out, and that’s pretty scary.
To answer Gina’s question, the epicenter for Sundays big one was about 170-190km’s down the road, so not that far. An easy days ride/drive.
We have not felt any of the aftershocks up this way, but I’m sure its only a matter of time till we feel another one (or more).
