  • Movie Reviews

We plan to try and pick up and do a few movie reviews on here.
Matt (both of them, but mostly the Uranquinty version) and I really enjoy taking movies and often Skype about them, so I am going to throw the odd YouTube and mini review up here.

You are of course under zero obligation to watch said video trailer, or read the review and you are especially encouraged to disagree with both my rating and review.
All movies have been endlessly reviewed and discussed on the web, so I do not want to repeat any of that here…. No, what you are here for is for what Ben thinks…. and as you know, that is rarely sugar coated.

So, it will be out of 5.

  • 0 / 5 = I had to turn it off before we got done. (You have been warned)
  • 1 / 5 = I would rather have spent the time programming.
  • 2 / 5 = I almost put the computer down and watched it.
  • 3 / 5 = Ok, we have something here. This is a movie.
  • 4 / 5 = I was entertained. (And might watch it again or own this movie)
  • 5 / 5 = Top shelf. Love it. Quote it. Own it.
  • Fair warning. While we do watch most ‘summer blockbusters’, I prefer quirky and less mainstream movies…. Stuff that makes you think, stuff that takes you somewhere, teaches you something, or shows you a part of the world (or yourself) that you were not expecting.
Please do not fall into the trap that just because I post about it here that you should watch it…. Use your judgement – it will be waaaaaay better than mine!

  • Tron Legacy

As mentioned in my last blog, we watched Tron Legacy last night.
Was every bit as good as the first time Terry and I watched in 3D at the Temecula theater.
    Just love this movie.
If you have seen it, watch it again.
If you have never seen it, track it down and watch it.

Have I told you how much I love this movie?

  • The Martian.

If I was back in Australia, all my blog readers, all 3 of ya’s, would be heading off to the movies to see this together. Yes. It’s that good.
Terry and I caught it over the weekend. I gave it 5/5, Terry gave it 10/10.

Best geek movie ever….. Just remember, I said geek movie, not movie. In that regard Tron Legacy still reigns supreme and untouchable in that regard.

I am really against 3D. Just don’t like it (Sorry Jim and Avatar – your included in that), it is never natural and always forced…. In this case no. Not only best geek movie, but best 3D I have ever seen. It just disappears. You don’t even realize that you are watching a 3D movie. I’m glad that Terry talked me into seeing it in 3D, but honestly, I don’t think it matters that much. I’m just saying, it worked in 3D.

Not going to spoil it for you, I just wish I had the time to read the book, so here is the trailer for you to check out.

    Go see it. It’s good.

  • Show times?

    Unbelievable.
We just got an email response from the distributor of the movie…..
Opto 22 reached out to them asking what theaters and times the movie would be showing. (We could not find any listings on the web).
They got back to us and said that http://www.deepseachallenge.com/ would have a listing of all theaters and times on Thursday.

    THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
The day before the movie comes out over here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wow. Blown away.
What does this mean for Australia? I have no idea. Do you not find out until Friday? Will be it in the papers or on the theater websites by Thursday your time? I have no idea.

    Im just a bit speechless.
