• Data Quality

I have given up on the ankle tracker.
Two reasons. 1 the old Fitbit was flaking out on me and not synching its data and 2 I had trouble getting good consistent heart rate data from my ankle.

So, we have bought a new Fitbit against my better judgement and past history (I have had 4 of them break) with them.
They just kill it on data presentation (their dashboard is super nice) and convenience.
I got the Charge 3. Its small, light, good battery life, great data, solid synch and was cheap enough for me to afford to give them another chance.

In case you are wondering, the Garmin has gone back to the left wrist and the Fitbit has gone on the right in place of the Android Smart Watch.
For the past few days I have not missed the Android.

Ah, the joys of being thebaldgeek.

  • Mmmm Coffee

We are trying a new coffee technique… We were given (by the lady next door that is moving out) a different style of percolator.
It has like a low pressure boiler vessel at the bottom where the water and pressed coffee go, then it pushes up and dribbles out the top.
It seems to be a cross between normal long flat black and espresso.
    Very dark and very strong.

Not sure if I am a huge fan or not. You get a lot of grit in the coffee, so we are going to try some different beans with a different grid and see how that goes.
I love strong dark coffee, so the thick strength is not the issue, it’s the fact that you have to chew the last half of the cup.

Anyway, its fun to try something different.

  • Ankle tracker

You might be a geek if you use an old hard drive magnet to keep your ankle fitness tracker attached……

I want to keep track of my walking and resting heart rate and my ring/Garmin are just not cutting it.
Freddy stopped using her (my) old Fitbit Blaze so I have started wearing it again. Because I have both the Garmin on my right and my Android Smart Watch on my left, the only spot is on my ankle.
Of course ankles are fatter than wrists, so I have been challenged finding a band long enough to go around.

    The joys of being thebaldgeek.

  • Rain

We have some (for us) major rain coming over the next few days.

All in all we should get about the total of last years rain in 4 days. Mind you, outside of the big rain event we had in December, it was a dry year last year.
Anyway, all very exciting, but hopefully there will be no mud slides and no damage to property up in the hills. The fires were bad enough that we don’t need everything to be washed away on top of it.

  • Walking

Freddy and I are still walking even with my knee issues…. It does not hurt at all when walking, but that said I am cutting back even on the weekday walks for a bit as I feel even walking, while not hurting, it is not helping it heal. I still have pain when walking downstairs.
(I saw a sports medicine doctor and she said that my glutes were too tight and thus were pulling up my kneecaps, so I have been foam rolling my glutes like crazy).

Anyway, here is a shot of us out from last weekend.
